His struggles carried into the playoffs as he was held to 211 yards and one score in a loss to the Colts. He scored the next week but again attempted only 20 passes, marking the fewest in consecutive games in his career (not including Week 17 playoff rests). In Week 14, he attempted only 20 passes, his fewest since 2006 in a full game as he broke a streak of 51 consecutive games with a touchdown. The last five games, though, he threw five touchdowns to six interceptions, averaging just 233 yards per game. Through 11 games, Manning led the league in touchdown passes (34), was second in yards per game (323.5) and third in YPA (8.05). Manning returns for his 18th season to chase that elusive second ring, but he'll need a better stretch drive than he had last year. Manning's departure leaves Brock Osweiler as the top quarterback on the Broncos' depth chart, though it's uncertain if the team is comfortable proceeding with him as the starter heading into 2016. The five-time league MVP is the NFL's all-time leader in touchdown passes for a career (539) and single season (55 in 2013), passing yardage (71,940), and victories by a quarterback (186). Though it was believed that other teams could still be interested in bringing him aboard had the Broncos cut him loose when his 2016 contract became guaranteed March 8, Manning will instead leave the game while on top and while holding sole possession of many NFL records. Manning's play declined considerably this season, as evidenced by his 9:17 TD:INT and meager 6.7 yards per pass attempt, while a torn plantar fascia in his left foot also inhibited him in the second half of the campaign. In a widely anticipated decision, Manning, who was set to turn 40 later this month, will hang up his cleats after claiming the second Super Bowl title of his career in February.
